This piece is a small writing desk or coffee table in the Louis XIII / Henry II style, dating from the late 19th century. It draws direct inspiration from Renaissance models and the French High Period of the 17th century.

- The base: This is the piece’s most distinctive feature. The four legs are carved in the turned baluster style (sometimes called “rosary” or “coil” legs). They rest on square connecting blocks and are joined by a beautifully molded H-shaped crossbar, adorned in the center with a spindle-turned element.
- The lower panel and the drawer: The front panel conceals a single large drawer. The drawer features rich bas-relief carvings depicting foliage scrolls, volutes, and a central rosette from which hangs a wrought-iron ring or pull handle.
- The top: Rectangular in shape, the top features a molded border in a “beak of corbin” or “flat band” style. The top surface has a light, natural patina, revealing the grain of the walnut.
- Visible condition: The piece shows normal signs of wear (small stains and marks on the tabletop), which give it a sought-after rustic charm, perfect for a “country chic” atmosphere.
