Jesus wore only a crown of thorns. In the 17th century, Count Alexandre Sforza, to demonstrate his devotion to the Mother of God, sent gold crowns at his own expense to the most famous statues of the Virgin Mary of his time. Since 1631, when this initiative began, more than 400 crowns have been distributed.

A crown is a traditional symbolic form of headdress or hat worn by a monarch or a deity, for whom the crown traditionally represents power, legitimacy, victory, triumph, honor, and glory, as well as immortality, justice, and resurrection.
