Verdier Paris Napoleon III-era Candelabra Made Of Ivory And Damask Silk

An umbrella with an ivory handle and 8 ribs, featuring its original damask canopy with a floral design and black silk fringes.

Both the handle and the tip, also made of ivory, are finely carved with a crowbar motif.

Two tassels on a thin, removable black cord tied to the finial.

Engraved with “Verdier” in relief on the gilded metal ring.

The upper part of the handle also features a hinge that allows it to tilt.

Second Empire period; high-quality craftsmanship by a parisian manufacturer of that era.

Length: 62 cm

Shade diameter: approximately 47 cm

Good condition. As found. Entirely original with its natural patina: one slightly warped rib (see photo 8), 2 small “pinhead-sized” holes, very slight white marks on the silk, fringes complete except for 2/3 (see photo 11).
