Lovely Oval Psyche Table Mirror In Mahogany Mercury Ice XIXth Century flag

Object description :

"Lovely Oval Psyche Table Mirror In Mahogany Mercury Ice XIXth Century"
Lovely little tilting mirror for table, dressing table or wall. It is in solid mahogany and its glass, which sparkles with a thousand lights, with mercury. The inner edge of the mirror frame is inlaid with two blackened wood fillets and two light wood fillets alternately. It has a double possibility of installation: on its foot or on the wall thanks to its hanging ring. Its foot pivots to, in a way, close and allow hanging on the wall. Period 1st quarter of the 19th century, mercury mirrors having disappeared around 1830 due to the invention of a new non-toxic manufacturing process. Dimensions: Total height: 26 cm Width: 13.4 cm Very good condition. Beautiful patina of time. The mirror is entirely original, never touched or modified, such as the hanging system or the round-head screws that hold the elements.
