Small filigree silver rooster – signed Carl Siewers, Saint Petersburg, mid-19th century REV25COQ001

A charming little solid silver rooster, crafted in openwork filigree, particularly on the wings and tail.

The bird is depicted in a striking pose, with its crest raised, well-defined legs, and plumage rendered with great delicacy. The body and wings feature filigree work typical of high-quality 19th-century Russian craftsmanship.

Master’s mark on a rectangular plate, legible as CS / C.S., corresponding to Carl Siewers (Карл Сиверс), a silversmith based in Saint Petersburg (active from 1844, with his own workshop from 1849, known until the 1860s).

A very lovely example of a small Russian filigree animal sculpture, rare in this form and size.
With a few traces of oxidation that will easily come off with a light, standard polishing...

Good overall condition. Original patina.
