With the maker's mark characteristic of Caucasian workshops (Tbilisi/Transcaucasian region) working under Russian Imperial control. The buckle features a central Cyrillic inscription "КАВЗ", a recognized abbreviation of "Кавказ" (Caucasus), indicating Caucasian production or style, typical of regional goldsmithing integrated into the Tsarist Empire. Rich nielloed floral decoration, finely chased work, in the great tradition of the Caucasian workshops (Tbilisi and neighboring regions). Presence of the Caucasian maker's mark and the Imperial title 84, guaranteeing official manufacture prior to the Russian Revolution.
