Rare women's "Étrier" watch, featuring an ADOLPH SHILD movement—a manufacturer that produced movements for several luxury watchmakers in the 1940s/50
Hermès launched this model, which was manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre; however, since the design was not trademarked, major Swiss watchmakers such as Jean Perret and a few others who sold their products on the Place Vendôme marketed and produced variations of this model.


This is therefore a rare and elegant ladies’ “Étrier”-style wristwatch, in the spirit of the vintage timepiece designs distributed by Hermès.

The “Étrier” model is characterized by its rectangular case and side clasps, which evoke the shape of a horse’s stirrup.
This particularly refined aesthetic establishes a clear connection to the equestrian world so dear to Hermès and is today one of the most recognizable designs in vintage luxury watchmaking.

The Étrier design first appeared in women’s watches as early as the 1930s.
It should be noted that not all stirrup-shaped watches were necessarily manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre, even when associated with Hermès.

The appeal of this family of watches also lies in the fact that several watchmakers and brands have produced or marketed watches featuring this distinctive aesthetic.
Among them is notably Jean Perret, whose “Étrier” ladies’ watches are now featured in specialized collections and auctions.
It features a manual-winding mechanical movement.
