Chinese Porcelain Vase With Relief Depictions Of Antiquities On A Turquoise Background, Guangxu Period, Qing Dynasty
Artist: Inconnu
Lantern-shaped vase from the early Guangxu period, Qing Dynasty.
This vase is decorated with relief motifs of antiquities and glazed in the colors typical of the “Famille Rose” style; among these motifs are vases with flowers, incense burners, Buddhist symbols, fruits, and flowers. This design is known as the “100 Antiquities” motif.
The turquoise-blue background color is particularly prized by collectors and is characteristic of pieces from the Guangxu period, as well as of imperial pieces bearing the Dayazhai mark produced for Empress Cixi (1835–1908), who was fond of this style.
Our vase has been restored; this restoration is visible in various places, such as on the neck and the base. Please take this information into consideration. However, the vase can very well remain in this condition and still serve as a beautiful decorative piece, remaining of great interest given its rarity on the market.
