19th-century Indo-persian Mughal Hookah

Copper hookah from the 19th-century Indo-Persian Mughal Empire. The chiseling and hammering in horizontal bands on the copper is typical of Indo-Persian or Mughal artisanal productions from this period. It is engraved with hand-chiseled arabesque and floral motifs (repoussé/chiseling).
Famous artists such as Delacroix, Jean-Léon Gérôme, and Rudolf Ernst immortalized this type of object in use in their 19th-century Orientalist compositions.
