Large Spanish Stylet - 16th–17th Centuries - Triangular Blade

Large Spanish stiletto, 16th–17th centuries.
These weapons were designed to inflict deep wounds that were difficult to treat.
They could also pass through the rings of chain mail (to pierce the mail) and were also used in artillery.
A blade typical of stilettos from this period.
The heel of the blade is carved in a baluster pattern, followed by a triangular blade with flat sides polished with a burnisher; the blade is very sharp and measures 19 cm.
On one side of the blade’s heel is a heart motif.
Short, symmetrical guard with two ball-shaped quillons ending in small knobs, which could also be used to deliver blows.
Onion-shaped pommel with a flattened top and prominent riveted button, identical to that on the quillons.
Handle consisting of two baluster-shaped sections in two different shades.
