Pair Grand 19th Century Gilt Bronze Mounted Verde Antico Marble Lamps

Exceptionally fine pair 19th Century Gilt Bronzer mounted Verde Antico marble lamps. Of elegant Neoclassical form, each vase is fashioned from beautifully figured Verde Antico marble, its rich greens, blacks and natural veining providing a magnificent contrast to the finely cast gilt bronze ornament. The substantial bodies are flanked by impressive ormolu ram’s-head handles, from which descend wonderfully detailed floral and fruiting swags. Further gilt bronze enrichment adorns the lower bodies, with each vase raised upon a turned marble socle and handsome square ormolu plinth.

Dating to the 19th century, the pair possesses all the grandeur and refinement associated with the aristocratic Neoclassical interiors. Now professionally adapted for electricity, which can be wired for any country, they retain their original decorative presence while becoming exceptionally palatial and imposing table lamps. With suitable shades, the richly polished marble and warm gilded mounts will create a particularly sumptuous effect in a drawing room, library, entrance hall or upon a grand console.
