Officer's Firefighter Helmet, Model 1821. Louis Philippe.

Made entirely of brass. The base of the globe is bordered at the front and back by a band decorated with raised moldings on both sides. The movable visor is embossed with two crossed axes linked by a ribbon and framed by laurel branches. The neck guard is encircled by a bent band straddling its outer edge. The crest, featuring wings embossed with ten godrons and a mask adorned with a flaming bomb, is topped with a black horsehair tuft. Brass front plate embossed with a Gallic rooster, marked “DEVOUEMENT,” between laurel sprigs and bundles of flags (the tips are missing), and with a ribbon bearing the inscription “ Sps Pompiers et Commune non attribuée ”. Brass chin straps consisting of two chin guards with rosettes: each chin guard consists of a brass plate stamped with scalloped scales in relief, and a round rosette stamped with gadroons in relief. Plume holder with a square cross-section tapering downward, featuring a clamping screw.
Very good overall condition. Helmet fully repolished and oven-baked varnished by Guesnon. Inner liner missing and chin strap laces, visible in the photos.
