Le Testu, Paper Merchant—blank 18th-century Herbarium Register With 16th- Or 17th-century Covers

LE TESTU, Paper Merchant in Paris - 18th-century herbarium register.
A very attractive register containing 30 blank sheets of gray blotting paper (except for the first sheet, which bears a handwritten note in ink reading "Buvard"), held together by a cloth cord in a cord-bound cover (282 x 240 mm) with very thick cardboard covers, overlaid with a handwritten parchment from the 16th or 17th century.
This register was produced by Le Testu, a paper merchant, with his label pasted to the top of the upper front cover (partially worn at the top with some text missing, including the business address), the remaining legible text reading: "...Champs, near....the Bons Enfants... Le Testu, Paper Merchant, Handles all matters concerning the supply of offices in Paris."
This beautiful curiosity was most certainly intended for creating a herbarium or for drying plants.
Very small tear on the spine; otherwise in very good condition.
