Gilded Bronze Medallion With Mythological Motifs – The Arts And The Muses – 19th Century
Gilded bronze tondo with mythological decoration – The Arts and the Muses – 19th century
An important circular tondo in gilded, repoussé bronze, featuring a very rich relief decoration inspired by mythology and allegory.
The composition is organized around a central medallion depicting a lyre surrounded by two putti, symbols of music and the arts.
All around it unfolds a multitude of figures drawn from the repertoire of Antiquity: draped or nude female figures, musicians, putti, and figures accompanied by various attributes.
The ensemble evokes an allegory of the Arts, Music, and the Muses, in a particularly decorative, richly detailed composition.
The bronze work features beautiful reliefs and numerous details: musical instruments, drapery, winged figures, and ornaments inspired by antiquity.
The antique gold patina displays subtle shades and traces of oxidation that naturally highlight the reliefs.
A spectacular piece that can be displayed as a decorative wall piece, in a cabinet of curiosities, or as part of a bronze collection.
