Sarreguemines, Obernai, Loux, Alsace

The largest meat dish from the “Obernai” dinner service, produced at the Sarreguemines pottery in the early 20th century.
The first design concepts for this set were created by the Alsatian illustrator Henri Loux in 1902; production at the pottery began in the following years.
Henri Loux, who is said to have “brought Alsace to our plates,” depicted scenes from the rich rural culture of Alsace—its history, unique characteristics, customs, and traditions—in the Obernai dinner service.  This design, “The Festive Procession,” is a perfect example.
Known throughout the world, the Obernai dinner service is still in production.
The piece we are presenting dates from the very beginning of production; the stamp on it was used only for a very short period, from 1904 to 1906.

Condition: Very good condition for a piece over a century old.
