Exceptional and spectacular gardener (or ceremonial pot cover of monumental dimensions, made around 1900 by the famous Kayser house, a key figure in the German Jugendstil movement.
This exceptional piece is distinguished by a strong and sought-after symbolist iconography:
Bat motifs: Under each of the handle fasteners is a stylized bat, a night symbol and fantastic, highly prized in the Art Nouveau repertoire and late-century symbolism.
The collar is enhanced by a large openwork applied headband representing grape clusters and wild vine foliage.
Made of hand-shaped brass, offering a delicately hammered surface with a warm and nuanced patina of origin.
