Paris 1798–1809 – Large, Lidded Officer's Timbale With A Solid Silver Handle, 1st Rooster
A large, lidded cylindrical goblet known as an “officer’s goblet,” made of solid silver by the silversmith Berudin. The body and lid are plain. The handle is neoclassical in style; the lid knob is made of turned ebony (with a slight play).
Each part is hallmarked.
Hallmarks:
• 1st rooster, 1st title (hallmark for 950/1000 solid silver in Paris between 1798 and 1809).
• Paris guarantee.
• Goldsmiths’ Guild: head of a Greek woman with the number 1.
• Master silversmith: J F on a slate (unidentified)
