Chinese Porcelain Vase Republic Period - Minguo (1912-1949)
Canton porcelain vase, Southern China,
a slender baluster-shaped vase rests on a slightly flared foot and ends in a high, flared neck with a hemmed lip. It is richly decorated with enameled polychrome "thousand flowers" decoration, typical of Cantonese production destined for export in the late Qing dynasty.
The body is decorated with large lobed cartouches depicting landscape scenes featuring birds, peony flowers, cherry lotus and foliage.
The neck circle of a gilded fillet and the base features a geometric and stylized frieze in pastel tones, framing reserves featuring young monks . The background is enamelled white includes a stamp mark in red, characteristic of Canton porcelains of this period.
