A pair of large patinated terracotta sculptures depicting two young satyrs (or faunlets) seated on a tree trunk, greedily devouring a golden bunch of grapes.
Details and characteristics:
Bacchanalian / Neoclassical theme: A beautiful 18th- and 19th-century style inspired by Clodion. The expressive faces feature pointed faun ears, childlike torsos, and small, very well-sculpted goat legs.
Warm terracotta-toned patina, with gilded highlights on the grape clusters.
An embossed studio mark is present on the base, depicting an armed figure (Saint George slaying the dragon) accompanied by the engraved date 1820
Excellent condition with a beautiful antique patina displaying several shades of color. Slight signs of age, minimal chipping, and minor touch-ups typical of this type of material.
