"Louis XVI Period Clock"
A Louis XVI period clock, known as a "portico" clock, in chased and gilt bronze, with black and white marble tops. The finial is formed by an eagle with outstretched wings holding a thunderbolt, the sides are decorated with garlands on a terrace with vases of flowers. The movement is supported by pilasters with console-like uprights and columns; quadrangular base, undulating front with reserves, geometric motifs and rosettes; small feet. The enamel dial, signed "Caillouet à Paris", indicates the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in fifteen-minute increments in Arabic numerals. The movement is in working order.
