A very fine and rare freestanding cylinder-top desk, veneered in tulipwood and amaranth, raised on four cabriole legs.
The front features five frieze drawers. The upper section opens via a tambour shutter to reveal a leather-lined writing surface, five drawers, and four pigeonholes. The desk is embellished with chased gilt-bronze mounts, including sabots, shoulder mounts, drawer pulls, escutcheons, a top rim molding, and a gallery.
Stamped multiple times "Tuart" and "Boudin," and bearing the JME stamp.
A desk of identical design is located at the Château de Champs-sur-Marne.
