Late 18th-century French Folding Table In The Louis XV Style, Made Of Fine Wood With Exquisite Inlays
A drop-leaf writing desk dating from the second half of the 1700s, characterized by a rounded and sinuous structure typical of the Louis XV style. The piece features a large sloping top with a drop-down panel, embellished with rich polychrome wood inlay featuring reserve motifs, molded frames, and an elegant central medallion.
The front is enlivened by three large, curved drawers, separated by thin dark moldings and embellished with elegant gilded and chiseled bronze fittings applied to the handles, vent grilles, and ornamental details. The interior of the drop-leaf, typical of the tradition of 18th-century French desks, was designed to organize the workspace with compartments and small storage spaces.
