16th-century Burgundian Bronze Crucifix
A 16th-century bronze freestanding crucifix from Burgundy. Christ’s legs are crossed, and he is riveted at a single point to a trefoil cross; the same applies to the “INRI” medallion placed above him. Christ is positioned above a sphere symbolizing the world. The needle-like stem is threaded through and secured with lead in a stepped pedestal made of patinated and blackened oak.
