Large Contemporary Mixed-media Composition—face In Relief
A major contemporary mixed-media work on canvas, in a vertical format, featuring an abstract and highly textural composition organized around a feminine face in relief.
The artist works the surface with thick layers of material, impasto, scratches, and splatters.
The palette, dominated by petroleum blues, turquoise, deep greens, ochres, and browns, gives the work a mineral-like, almost oxidized quality.
In the center, a sculptural face emerges from the canvas.
A light-colored section in high relief covers the eye and contrasts with the dark tones of the face.
Surrounding it are large circular movements and protruding elements that considerably enhance the sense of depth.
Examination of the reverse reveals a canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher, with several partially legible inscriptions or stamp marks on the crossbars.
A signature is also visible in the lower right corner of the composition, but I prefer not to propose an attribution without a definitive reading of it.
A spectacular decorative work, characteristic of a contemporary artistic approach combining painting, texture, and sculptural elements.
