A beautiful painting by André Breuillaud (1898–1994).
He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in Merson’s studio, then in Cormon’s studio, and after 1914 in Laurens’s studio.
Exhibited at the Tuileries Salon and the Salon des Indépendants.
Starting in 1929, Zborowski signed him to a contract alongside Modigliani and Soutine.
In 1941, he participated in the exhibition organized by the Berri / Raspail titled “Étapes du Nouvel Art Contemporain” (see label on the back of our painting)
Several of his paintings were acquired by the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
Due to his wife’s health, he left Paris and settled in Provence. He then turned to abstraction.
