Louis Philippe-era Bookcase In Walnut
An elegant, beautifully presented glass-fronted walnut bookcase dating from the 19th century.
The piece features an ornate front with two glass doors, each opening onto an interior fitted with several shelves. The lower sections of the doors are adorned with walnut panels, while the side posts and central crossbar are accentuated by decorative molding and inlaid veneer work.
The piece is particularly remarkable for the quality and flow of the walnut grain, especially on the upper cornice and the front panels. The upper section is crowned by a molded cornice with a scalloped profile, giving the piece a particularly elegant presence.
The interior retains its original layout with its solid wood shelves.
The piece rests on four clog-shaped legs, and the interiors are meticulously finished and varnished.
With its proportions, construction, and decoration, this bookcase is representative of 19th-century French furniture.
