Polycarpe Mambengi Tondo (born in 1950 in Kinshasa) is a Congolese painter who trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, where he also teaches. His work frequently highlights African women through compositions characterized by intense colors and stylized figuration.
In "Three Graces", three women are depicted in elegant poses, dressed in colorful fabrics and adorned with long pieces of jewelry. Their bluish faces contrast with the yellow, orange, and red of the setting, creating a vibrant and expressive composition. The simplified forms and strong outlines give the work a modern and graphic character.
