Stunning black lacquered wooden box in an octagonal shape, signed TAHAN PARIS, dating from the second half of the 19th century, the Napoleon III period.
The box is entirely adorned with an elegant geometric design composed of floral and quatrefoil motifs in mother-of-pearl and brass inlays, set against a black lacquered background and accented with gilded brass fillets.
The lidded box, with beveled sides, features a rich decoration of mother-of-pearl and brass inlays, with a central oval medallion.
The front is adorned with a metal lock and key, accompanied by a red tassel.
The interior is lined with red velvet, and the underside of the lid is also adorned with elegant gold-colored trim.
A brass plaque bears the inscription “TAHAN PARIS”, attesting to its provenance from the famous Parisian house.
