Biedermeier Shelf, Solid Cherry Wood, Germany, Circa 1825
A three-tiered shelf from the Biedermeier period, made entirely of solid cherry wood. The design is classically linear: three rectangular shelves stacked one above the other, supported by four solid square legs.
Each shelf is surrounded by a low rail that prevents objects from sliding off. The design is devoid of decorative elements and derives its beauty from its proportions and the color of the wood.
The shelf has been restored, finished with shellac varnish, and is ready for use.
