"Biedermeier Walnut Side Table Decorated With Swans - Germany, Circa 1820"
A rare Biedermeier sewing table dating from around 1820, crafted from high-quality walnut veneer. Its round top features an impressive, symmetrically applied image created by a ten-mirror veneer. The central base consists of three finely and solidly carved swan-neck supports, their eyes highlighted by the use of bone – a stylistic detail typical of high-quality Biedermeier furniture from southern Germany or Austria. The splayed legs ensure stability and lend the table a light, sculptural appearance. A small, cabinet-finished wooden basket is integrated into the lower part of the base. The original drawer, complete with its lock and key, is internally divided into small drawers and secret compartments. These are ideal for storing small items or, in a historical context, sewing supplies. The piece has been professionally restored and is in very good condition. During restoration, one of the small drawers inside the large drawer was rebuilt and reinstalled. Product details: Original Biedermeier, circa 1820. Beautifully grained walnut veneer. Sculptural central plinth with three curved legs. Round tabletop with a symmetrical veneer pattern mirrored tenfold. Extendable and compartmentalized drawer. In restored and well-maintained condition. Applications: Ideal as a side table, centerpiece, decorative element in the living room or bedroom, or as a collector's item.
