Important Borovier & Toso Floor Lamp, Murano, Hand-blown Opaline Glass Bowl, Italy, Circa 1980

Italian floor lamp by Barovier & Toso, Murano, original label preserved (Barovier & Toso diamond logo + “Vetri Murano VM 007” certification label, a mark of the Consorzio Venezia Vetro consortium used between 1981 and the early 2000s).

The conical bowl, made of blown opaline glass, with the grainy texture characteristic of Venetian craftsmanship, is adorned with a frieze of acid-etched waves on its lower third, drawing on techniques and a decorative vocabulary inherited from the golden age of Venetian glass. It rests on a clear Murano glass sphere, blown and cut with twisted ribs, which secures it to the brass stem—a torch-style floor lamp, with light diffused upward through the glass.

The brass shaft extends down to a circular base made of white-lacquered metal. Original dimmer switch at the base.

In generally good condition. The lacquered base shows visible signs of wear and micro-scratches (see photos), which do not affect the structure or functionality.
The glass and crystal ball are intact, with no chips or cracks.

Original electrical components are functional.
