Westerwald Stoneware Pitcher With Coat Of Arms, Circa 1700
An interesting German stoneware pitcher, decorated with a lovely round medallion stamped with an unidentified alliance coat of arms. The outline of the coat of arms is embellished with hearts and pearls on a cobalt blue background; much of the body features an engraved floral design, also accented with cobalt blue. A ribbed handle ends in a classic small scroll.The original pewter lid features a beautiful handle shaped like a sea monster.
Good condition, slight wear from use on the decoration, a small chip on the neck, no chips, no restoration.
