19th Century Set Of Two Boxwood Pipes Representing Neptune And A Mermaid
Set of two boxwood pipe bowls carved in the shape of figureheads.
The first represents a Mermaid, the second Neptune, god of the sea, both decorated with foliage at the lower part.
The Neptune bowl bears the signature “CF” and small medallion with the letter M.
Condition: Fine carving and beautiful patina.
Dimensions: Mermaid length of 14,5 cm; Neptune length of 13 cm.
Probably French work made in the first half of the 19th century.
