Blacksmith – Sculpture In Regulé Metal Based On A Work By Auguste Moreau, 19th Century
An elegant sculpture in regul, with a bronze patina, depicting a blacksmith at work, holding his hammer and a piece of wrought iron. This work is based on a model by the French sculptor Auguste Moreau (1834–1917), whose signature “Aug. Moreau” is visible on the anvil.
The sculpture rests on its original blackened wooden base, adorned with an engraved brass plaque reading: “FORGERON – By Aug. Moreau, Méd. d’Or.”
