Full details (click HERE)
Pair of sculptures depicting greyhounds, likely of the Whippet breed, life-size and of excellent craftsmanship, cast in bronze using the lost-wax method and dating to the early 20th century, inspired by the designs and subjects typically favored during the Art Deco period due to that style’s affinity for animal motifs.
Sculptures like these are often used as highly decorative elements for interiors, gardens, or terraces.
In this case, the artist has skillfully captured the elegance of the two creatures—a male and a female—which are particularly captivating due to their realistic detail and possess a remarkable sense of plasticity achieved through the use of an extraordinarily modern line.
The works, made in France, draw inspiration from the famous creations of the sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti (Milan 1884 – Paris 1916), a Milanese who moved to Paris and Antwerp, and Pierre-Jules Mênes, both renowned sculptors specializing in animal bronzes.
