Versailles Rifle, Year XII Model For The Infantry. First Empire. France.

Long-chambered flintlock musket; the muzzle is reinforced and slightly flared. The sight consists of an iron front sight and a small fixed rear sight with a notch. Barrel length: 66 cm; overall length including the buttstock: 72 cm. Flintlock lock marked in upright capital letters “Manufacture Impériale de Versailles,” length 144 mm. Hammer of the Year IX musketon model. Walnut stock with a single-piece butt and a grafted end, cheek piece with the buttstock removed. Brass fittings, with the exception of the upper trigger guard, which is made of iron.
One-piece trigger guard and bridge; curved butt plate; two rosettes with lugs serving as screw mounts. Three moulaged cleaning rod holders in relief, secured by pins.
Overall length of the firearm: 1.05 meters.
The lock and hammer function properly across two notches; the stock features a graft at the muzzle end and at the bottom of the butt plate.
The firearm is in good condition.
