3-piece gilded bronze Rocaille LXV-style set withParis porcelain plaques, decorated in theNapoleon III Romantic style. Dial with Roman numerals featuring winged Cupids with bows and arrows. Thecartouche below the clock’s dial features a painted and enameled scene of two young menseated on the grass exchanging a piece of fruit(a grape). This can be interpreted as asense of budding love.The set—the clock and its two matching candlesticks—is marked by thejeweler-clockmakers MEYER and LEVY, 33Boulevard St. Martin, Paris. The VINCENTI movement won a silver medal in 1855.It iscomplete with its suspension blade andpendulum, a chime with half-hour and hour strikes, and a winding key. It worksbut has not been serviced.
