“Lignum Sanctae Crucis” Pendant Reliquary ” – Silver – 18th century
Description
Reliquary containing a relic of the Holy Cross (Lignum S. Crucis), displayed beneath a paper-cutout cross.
The entire piece is protected by an antique glass pane and mounted in a traditional setting on a textile background.
The reverse is sealed with a large red wax seal crisscrossed by silk threads
The well-preserved seal bears an ecclesiastical heraldic impression attesting to the relic’s canonical authenticity
Silver mount with twisted decoration, featuring the original loop.
Condition:
Good state of preservation; sealed reliquary with original wax and threads; slight wear consistent with its age.
The glass has a visible crack in the lower right corner, which does not affect the integrity of the relic or the seal.
In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale pertains solely to the reliquary as an object of sacred art. The relics it contains are not part of the transaction but are included as a courtesy due to their historical and cultural value.
