In very good condition, it depicts the facades of a sunlit alleyway in Mykonos.
It is signed in the lower left corner, monogrammed, and titled “Façades au soleil, Mykonos” on the back.
At a very young age, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts, and after studying the great masters of Provençal painting, he began exhibiting his first paintings in his hometown in 1958.
Between 1960 and 1970, he received numerous painting awards, which marked the culmination of his early career as a young painter, and during this period, exhibitions of his works were held in numerous galleries across France.
Starting in 1971, he began exhibiting in the United States: Washington, New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Albuquerque…
In 1980, Jean Claude Quilici began his career in Japan: from Tokyo to Osaka, via Kobe, Shizuoka, Fukuoka, Nagano, and Sapporo… All of these cities organized exhibitions for him and gave him a warm welcome.
For 30 years, his lithographs and paintings have been on permanent display in Japan. Jean Claude Quilici has not, however, neglected France. His work is regularly exhibited in the most important galleries in Marseille, Toulon, Ajaccio, Lyon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Nancy, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez. At the same time, the artist has pursued a career abroad: in the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and elsewhere. Throughout his career, he has also been commissioned to create various works, such as monumental murals for the University of Corte (Corsica)—measuring 40 meters long by 4 meters high—and for the Marseille Metro. In 1997, the artist designed the sets for Gounod’s opera Mireille, a co-production of the Marseille Opera and the Bordeaux Opera.
