Umbrian Deruta Plate With "bella" - Chalidona, 1520-40ca.
An interesting and large Deruta plate featuring a "bella" and a cartouche with a quartered decoration on the rim, showcasing the typical and exquisite motifs of Umbrian pottery. The peacock feather and plant tendrils with fruit on a white background are interspersed with acanthus leaves on a two-tone yellow and orange background.
The decoration on the woman’s cloak is of high quality in both design and execution, recalling a pattern typical of early 16th-century Umbrian painting.
The ceramic features a light-colored bisque on the rim of the plate, consistent with its authenticity, and a thickness of nearly one centimeter, making it a very sturdy plate.
The plate has no visible restorations, although it may have undergone an older restoration; nevertheless, the plate can be considered to be in good condition.
The plate has a diameter of 40.5 cm.
A certificate of authenticity is included with the sale.
