Finely sculpted and chased on all sides in hunting-inspired bas-relief.
Molded base resting on ball feet.
Opens via a flap on top, revealing an interior upholstered in amethyst-colored satin.
Signed inrecessed letters “L. OUDRY EDITEUR” on the base.

In 1854, industrialist and chemist Léopold Oudry established an electrochemical workshop in Auteuil, at 10 Rue Cuissard (now Rue Félicien David). He succeeded in applying a durable copper plating to small parts; then, by modifying his process, he secured the contract for the electroplating of all cast-iron objects and monuments in the city of Paris, including several fountains.
