Spectacular, monumental Aubusson tapestry titled “Épargne,” created from a design by Jean Picart Le Doux (1902–1982), a leading figure in the 20th-century revival of French tapestry, and handwoven by the prestigious Atelier Pinton.

Conceived around the themes of foresight, work, and the accumulation of resources, the work is organized as a symbolic and poetic triptych on a black background studded with stars:

• In the center: A central medallion features a squirrel sitting on the branch of a bare tree, a traditional symbol of thrift and foresight. This scene is framed by immense, stylized, golden sunbeams, punctuated by playing cards featuring geometric and symbolic motifs (swords, cups, wands).

• Left side: A swaying vine bearing generous clusters of grapes, evoking abundance, the fruits of labor, and the earth.

• Right side: A vertical aquatic composition depicting a misty stream populated by stylized fish and starfish, evoking fertility and natural movement.
