Italian Violetwood Partner’s or Face to Face Flat Desk, circa 1750
This elegant and decorative partner’s or Face to Face desk is crafted with violetwood veneer on a cross-grained oak frame. It features three drawers on the front and three additional full-depth drawers on the opposite side. The desk is adorned with finely chased and gilded bronze handles, keyhole escutcheons, drop pulls, a molding edge, and feet caps.
It stands on gracefully shaped legs, each ending in gilded bronze feet caps. The top, framed by a gilded bronze molding, is covered with a magnificent patinated lime-green leather, decorated with a gold-tooled border.
