Alfred Loudet, Portrait Of A Gentleman.

Artist: Alfred Loudet ( 1836-1898).
Alfred Loudet created this portrait of a friend named Eugène Collignon.
Alfred Loudet was a native of Montélimar. Thanks to a grant from the Drôme General Council, he was able to move to Paris and study under Léon Cogniet. He later collaborated with Isidore Pils on the decorations for the Opéra Garnier. He won the Prix de Rome in both 1862 and 1863. Several museums hold his works: the Musée d'Orsay, Paris :"Jesus Christ Giving the Keys of Paradise to Saint Peter"; the Musée de Valence "Cephalus and Procris"; "The Death of Abel and the Flight of Cain"; the Musée de Vizille "Robespierre, Danton, and Marat"; and the Museum of the French Revolution "Marat".
Dimensions with frame: 64 x 58 cm. The painting has been relined and retouched in the brown background. There are a few retouches on the neck on the left.
