Farid Aouad is a renowned Lebanese painter, highly regarded in his country. The artist lived in Paris, in the Latin Quarter. Exhibition: Raymonde Cazenave Gallery (1963-1964). Framed: 43 x 46 cm. Farid Aouad was born in Maydan, Lebanon, in 1924. He studied at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts from 1943 to 1947. Thanks to a scholarship, he went to Paris in 1948 and studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Nostalgic, he then returned to Beirutbefore settling permanently in Paris in 1959. In Beirut, heexhibited regularly at the Sursock Museum's Autumn Salon as well as at theGalerie L’Amateur, and concurrently his works were presented at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in Paris (1963 and 1964) and at the Galleria La Barcaccia in Rome(1972). Having died in Paris in 1982, Farid Aouad was honored that same yearwith a major retrospective at the Sursock Museum.
