Born in Marseille, he studied at the Marseille School of Fine Arts, notably in Jean Baptiste Olive’s studio. He also spent time in Paris and exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1893. In 1928, he was appointed official painter to the Navy and also became curator of the Cantini Museum in Marseille. His painting is described as understated, inspired by a deep connection to nature.
His works have been acquired by public collections, including the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, the Petit Palais, as well as museums in Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Nîmes, Arles, Toulon, and others...
A few works can also be found in institutions in Amsterdam and New York.
