The panel is painted in the style of Jan van Goyen (1596–1656), a painter of the Dutch Golden Age. It is difficult to date, as some restorations have been carried out. A red wax seal bearing the initials “CC,” affixed after the panel was inlaid, attests to its time in a collection during the 19th century.
Scratches, missing areas, and cracks in the panel are visible on the surface.
The panel is set in a molded and painted wooden frame from the early 19th century; without the frame, it measures 25.3 x 36.6 cm.
