Round barrel tapering to a square muzzle, marked ‘B 1813’ for Bourgeois 1813 on the left-hand side, ‘M AN 13’ on the top and a proof mark on the top.
Flintlock lock with a heart-shaped hammer and straight crest, signed ‘Manuf Imp de St Etienne’, with a hallmark depicting a ‘S’ within a diamond for Stelen.
Brass lock plate and trigger guard.
Wooden stock.
Steel ramrod with a ‘nail head’ tip.
Hallmarks depicting a crowned ‘G’ for Guichard, the fittings inspector.

Weapon manufactured by the Saint-Étienne factory between 1806 and 1817, with 141,355 examples produced for the Napoleonic cavalry.
