Artist: Jules Dufour ( 1812 - 1871 )
Jules Dufour: Péronne (Somme) 1812–1871; French school, genre painter, student of Auguste Dehaussy, the Péronne master. He is responsible for the restoration of the mural painting that adorns one of the walls of the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Péronne. The Amiens Museum holds his self-portrait. This painting depicts a child with a ruff and blue suit. This was the fashion for boys around 1860, before the so-called "sailor" period. We can see the Prince Imperial, son of Napoleon III, dressed in such a suit in photographs from the time.
