A French painter born in Tours in 1922, he lived in Montluçon from childhood. He worked as a schoolteacher in numerous villages in the Allier department before becoming an art teacher in Montluçon in 1955, a position he held until his retirement in 1977.
A self-taught painter with a poetic realist style—as he described himself—he painted gypsies, carnival fairs, and lively scenes, as well as ponds and pools of clear water.
A recipient of the French Artists’ Gold Medal in 1968, he exhibited throughout France and abroad, notably in Japan.
